while i am absolutely here for all of this, i kinda feel like i *have to* say this: gay roles should still be made available to straight actors & gay actors should always be eligible to play straight roles, too, because if we limit gay roles to gay actors, then those are the only roles which will be available to them in the future. so, yeah, keep that particular door open.
also, roles written/intended for White actors need to be open to actors of all races & ethnicities unless the mere concept of Whiteness is integral to the role & the story to be told [& if it is, then, perhaps, rethink the story trying to be told]. ALL actors should be eligible for all roles; to limit them to roles specifically written for their particular races and/or ethnicities is to basically end their acting careers.
yes, by all means hire & use those minority actors. but try to use them more across the spectrum of acting. stop creating stories that are so damned Whitewashed with tokens of diversity sprinkled in here & there
